The Neu-Ulm location is the competence center for coaches of all drive types and part of the Daimler Buses production network. The plant was founded in 1991 by the former Karl Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke GmbH. Through the merger of Mercedes-Benz Buses with the Kässbohrer brand Setra, the location became part of Daimler Buses in 1995.
The final assembly of Mercedes-Benz and Setra coaches takes place at the Neu-Ulm plant. At the same time, the Painting Competence Center for the entire production network, the central spare parts supply for Mercedes-Benz and Setra omnibuses, the Daimler Buses Development Center for safety and assistance systems, testing, and the Competence Center for 3D printed parts are all located in Neu-Ulm. The site also includes the Setra CustomerCenter, where sales meetings, bus handovers, employee, customer and press events take place.
