- For customers, a complete rental solution means maximum flexibility and improved predictability of operating costs (TCO); Service products such as insurance, tax, and maintenance are seamlessly integrated.
- With around 6,000 vehicles, CharterWay operates the largest manufacturer-owned rental fleet for commercial vehicles in Germany.
- More than 100 eActros 600 vehicles are planned to be added to the fleet in 2025.
Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany - The market for rental solutions in Europe continues to grow strongly as companies increasingly look for integrated and flexible transport solutions to respond to dynamic market changes. Under the CharterWay brand, the Daimler Truck Group in Germany offers fast and flexible solutions for every logistical challenge from one day to three years with its Mercedes-Benz truck models Actros, eActros, Arocs, Econic, eEconic and Atego as well as the Fuso Canter and eCanter. With a fleet of around 6,000 vehicles, the largest manufacturer-owned rental fleet in Germany, CharterWay supports companies to concentrate on their core business. In addition, more than 100 battery-electric eActros 600s, the new flagship of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, are planned to be added to the CharterWay fleet in 2025.
Since the beginning of 2025, CharterWay's rental business has now rounded off the service portfolio of the financial services subsidiary Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS). Until now, CharterWay was a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG. For customers, the internal transition is smooth: CharterWay's leases and services remain in place, while services such as insurance and maintenance contracts continue seamlessly.
"The integration of CharterWay's rental business is part of Daimler Truck Financial Services' strategy to evolve from a pure financial services provider to a full-service provider for the commercial vehicle industry. We thus offer a comprehensive Truck as a Service solution that includes not only the vehicle, but also insurance, tax, maintenance, repairs, and other digital services. This simplifies fleet management for our customers and enables better control of total costs," emphasizes Stephan Unger, CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services.
Operationally, CharterWay will work even more closely with Daimler Truck Financial Services Deutschland GmbH, which, like CharterWay, is based in Berlin. "With CharterWay and Daimler Truck Financial Services, what belongs together is growing together. In the future, our customers in Germany will get everything from a single source - from daily rental to leasing and hire purchase," says Florian Peterl, Managing Director of Daimler Truck Financial Services Deutschland GmbH.
"Our goal is to offer holistic and flexible transport solutions that guarantee not only financial but also operational flexibility, with predictable costs and reduced risk. In addition, with the new eActros 600, our customers can easily and risk-free integrate electromobility into their fleet," adds Martin Kehnen, Managing Director of CharterWay GmbH.
For DTFS, the transformation into a full-service provider means additional growth opportunities with new products and business models that go beyond classic leasing and financing for trucks and buses. In addition to the rental business, this includes offers relating to charging infrastructure, the insurance business or its own payment solution. Customers in many markets can already flexibly bundle the various components at fixed monthly rates.
Daimler Truck Financial Services was launched in December 2021 as part of the Daimler Truck Group and is currently active in 18 countries worldwide. In the coming months, the start of the business in further countries is planned. The company, with around 1,900 employees, is one of the world's largest group-owned financial service providers in the commercial vehicle segment and offers its customers flexible financing, leasing and rental solutions for trucks and buses from the Daimler Group. In addition, DTFS brokers numerous insurance products through partners. At mid-2024, the DTFS contract volume was 30.4 billion euros.
