The Mercedes-Benz Kassel plant was founded as "Hanomag-Henschel-Fahrzeugwerke GmbH" in 1969 and for more than 50 years has been producing, among other products, axles for commercial vehicles.
The plant is the global competence center for commercial-vehicle axles at Daimler AG. In future-oriented production processes, the employees produce axles for trucks, buses, vans and cars, propshafts and gear sets. For a climate-friendly and future-oriented production, a complete hall with two assembly systems is in operation at the plant. It draws its entire energy from photovoltaic systems on the hall roof. The location in Kassel is one of the largest commercial vehicle axle plants in Europe and the largest industrial employer in the city.
