 Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Hanover – At this year's IAA Transportation in Hanover, the Daimler Truck brand FUSO is presenting the battery-electric Next Generation eCanter in various body styles with the latest safety and comfort features in Hall 19/20 from September 17-22^th.

FUSO at the IAA 2024

“The Next Generation eCanter. Makes e Work.” – under this slogan, booth visitors will experience the battery-electric eCanter in two different body variants. The eCanter with the municipal waste collection body from KAOUSSIS is ideal for use in Europe's densely populated cities, operating on the proven Canter advantages of maneuverability, payload and good all-round visibility. FUSO is also showing an 8.55 t eCanter with a box body and the latest safety and comfort features. In addition to the vehicles, the FUSO brand will provide information about the FUSO EcoSystem and the flexible charging options for the eCanter. Visitors will also have the chance to test-drive the all-electric light-duty truck.

Collecting like a big truck: the eCanter as a waste disposal vehicle

The 8.55 t Next Generation eCanter as a waste disposal vehicle with a body from KAOUSSIS comes with automated bin lifting and tipping, an integrated bin washing system and a drum capacity of 4 m³. The rotating drum compacts the waste by up to three quarters of its original volume. The realized body application is the first of its kind for the eCanter and meets all technical requirements for the operation of waste disposal vehicles with standing personnel. With a wheelbase of just 3,400 mm and a short body overhang, the CO₂-neutral light-duty truck is particularly agile and easy to maneuver when driving - ideal for inner-city use. The eCanter has a range of 140 kilometers thanks to the medium-sized battery pack with a battery capacity of 82.6 kWh. The Greek cities of Athens and Thessaloniki have ordered 89 FUSO eCanter vehicles for urban waste collection. A total of 40 vehicles will be in use from November.

Convinces freight hauliers across Europe: the 8.55 t eCanter with box body on display offers space for up to 15 Euro pallets.

FUSO is showing another Next Generation eCanter 8.55 t with a 4,450 mm wheelbase and a 6,2 m long box body at the IAA stand. This is equipped with the latest safety and comfort features. These include, among other things, Active Brake Assist 6, the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), Intelligent Speed Assist and Attention Assist as standard features. Thanks to the large 123.9 kWh battery pack, the vehicle has a range of up to 200 kilometers. The light-duty truck, with a body from Spier, has a fast-charging function that allows a full charge from 20% to 80% to be achieved within around 40 minutes at up to 104 kW. Alternatively, the vehicle can also be charged from 0 to 100% in six hours with up to 22 kW AC. The standard charging flexibility of the Next Generation eCanter is an ideal solution for logistics companies and fleet customers, making the switch to e-mobility both easy and attractive. The body-friendly eCanter can be adapted to the specific needs of different users. In addition, the vehicle impresses with a very good chassis load capacity of 4.6 metric tons and a high loading capacity of up to 15 EURO pallets with a 6.2 m box length.

Equipped with a specially developed electric drive train consisting of a powerful permanent synchronous electric motor with 129 kW max./110 kW continuous and an electric axle, the eCanter is suitable not only for experienced professionals but also for inexperienced drivers due to its car-like handling. The four recuperation modes also enable efficient driving in inner-city distribution. The optionally available efficiency package for increasing the range, consisting of a heated comfort driver's seat, heated windshield and steering wheel, as well as improved cab insulation, can further optimize the range even in winter operation.

The new safety and comfort features of the eCanter

One of the highlights of the FUSO at the IAA is the modern design of the cab of the light-duty truck. With an LCD instrument cluster and a multifunction steering wheel, the eCanter is especially popular among drivers. A new touchscreen radio with Apple Car Play and Android Auto provides additional comfort for the driver. An impressively low interior noise level is achieved with proven sound insulation. Good all-round visibility, a low entry height and a generous access hatch make the driver's everyday work easier.

The interior design is combined with updated safety features. The latest model of the Next Generation eCanter has Active Brake Assist 6, an intelligent speed assistant and an attention assistant for a particularly high level of safety. The eCanter is also equipped with a reversing camera, a front protection device and a tire pressure monitoring system. Modified versions of the hazard warning lights, and the blind spot information system are also available. Built to enable entry into electric mobility – that is what the eCanter promises, and that is what FUSO is also demonstrating at the IAA.

The FUSO EcoSystem – infrastructure as key factor

At the IAA-Transportation in Hannover, there will not only be information about the Next Generation eCanter, but also about the FUSO EcoSystem. This includes topics such as available charging solutions, service contracts, information on driver training and on integrated services at FUSO, such as eService Leasing. In particular, the EcoSystem focuses on advice on charging, configuration and equipment.

Drive an eCanter yourself – possible with the Driving Experience

IAA visitors can experience the Next Generation eCanter for themselves in joint test drives of the Daimler truck brands Mercedes-Benz and FUSO at the Driving Experience. A FUSO eCanter 4.25 t with flatbed body and the FUSO eCanter 7.5 t with box body are available for co-driving and self-driving.
