The exciting design and the latest assistance systems make the next generation of Setra TopClass the flagship of any fleet. The S 516 HD shines as a three-axle coach with a spacious passenger compartment, enormous payload, and exclusive equipment options. It remains astonishingly maneuverable.

Exterior: HDH model with a confident appearance

Shiny chrome, black front mounting plate, denim metallic blue paint including the attachments, softly gleaming aluminum wheels – the HDH premiere model of the TopClass is already a statement on the outside and maintains a confident appearance.

Interior: Top class in comfort and technology

This impression continues in the passenger compartment. Backlit door sill panels with the brand logo, floor covering and partition walls with wood look decor, luxurious Setra Voyage Ambassador seating with a multi-part outer cover made of a composition fabric combination in brocade gold, design decor on the adjustment toggles in bird's-eye maple, curtains in curry – the TopClass is already a top-class touring coach from the first glance onwards. A refrigerator, kitchenette, and washroom and toilet are par for the course in this environment.

This impression lingers with the sophisticated technical equipment: Coach MediaRouter for internet access, the new Coach Infotainment Series multimedia system, electrically folding screens in 21.5-inch format, USB plugs, and 230-volt outlets between the double seats – all together form the perfect basis for onboard infotainment.

Cockpit: attractive and highly functional, innovative assistance systems

The cockpit of the test vehicle is also characterized by high-quality equipment. The multifunction leather steering wheel and instrument panel with black matte bird's-eye maple design decor are visually appealing. Keyless start, the new electronic parking brake with hold function, the Coach Infotainment Series multimedia system, the new even brighter LED headlights, or the surround lighting for reverse driving and the 360° camera system for perfect all-around visibility, provide valuable support in everyday use. There are also assistance systems that set new standards for buses: Active Drive Assist 2 including active steering assistant, adaptive cruise control, Active Brake Assist 5, Predictive Powertrain Control of the latest generation, Sideguard Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) – this is currently state of the art, and they open up entirely new possibilities for bus driving.

The superior appearance of the TopClass is matched by the equally superior drivetrain. The powerful yet highly-efficient OM 471 engine with 375 kW (510 hp), the fully automated GO 250-8 PowerShift transmission, and the RO 440 drive axle come from a single source and are perfectly synchronized.

Setra ComfortClass S 515 HD

  • Appealing: the stylish and comfortable interior
  • Safe: exemplary assistance systems

Comfort, safety, profitability, high flexibility and a touch of extravagance– that’s Setra ComfortClass 500. The two-axle S 515 HD high-decker perfectly embodies this combination. It is even safer with new assistance systems and even more functional with additional features.

Appealing: the stylish and comfortable interior

Exterior in elegant silver metallic, interior features Setra Voyage Plus seats with backrests, seats and backs as well as curtains in warm red tones, plus wood look floor covering: That’s what we call stylish, appealing and homely. In addition to the usual equipment features such as kitchenette and toilet, there is the new Coach Infotainment series multimedia system, 21.5-inch full-HD monitors and power supply for end devices via both USB and 230-volt sockets. This is what traveling is about.

Safe: exemplary assistance systems

The test bus is equipped with the assistance systems Active Drive Assist 2 (ADA 2), Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) and adaptive cruise control (ART). Working closely together, these systems not only maintain the speed and distance to the vehicle in front. Through continuous steering interventions, ADA 2 keeps the vehicle in a target position within the lane and thus enables partially automated driving in all speed ranges.

The safety equipment is supplemented by the emergency braking assistant Active Brake Assist, the Sideguard Assist turning assistant, and the Attention Assist (AtAs) attention assistance system. The 360° camera system provides a perfect all-round view, while the surround lighting helps when reversing and maneuvering at night. The drive system is just as confident as the assistance and safety systems: With an engine output of 315 kW (428 hp) and fully automated transmission, a powerful response is ensured.

Versatile, safe, comfortable, and economical – with these attributes, the Setra ComfortClass S 515 HD has secured a solid position in many travel fleets. The test bus at the Daimler Buses Driving Experience 2024 arrives with attractive passenger compartment furnishings and numerous assistance systems.

The new Driver Score driver assistance system ensures continuous optimization of driving behavior by evaluating current driving performance, based on numerous parameters and the use of assistance systems, providing personalized feedback and suggestions on the display.

The Setra ComfortClass touring coach is powered by a Mercedes Benz OM 470 in-line six-cylinder engine rated at 315 kW (428 hp), which is coupled with the fully automated GO 250–8 MPS (Powershift) 8-speed manual transmission.

Mercedes-Benz Tourismo M/2
with innovative assistant systems

  • Numerous innovative safety systems
  • Sophisticated passenger compartment with new infotainment
  • Comfortable and gentle drive with automatic torque converter

Even safer, more comfortable, highly economical and innovative – the completely upgraded Mercedes-Benz Tourismo is the benchmark for its class of high-decker touring coach. This is underlined by the attractive test vehicle at the Daimler Buses Driving Experience 2024.

Numerous innovative safety systems

The approximately 13 -meter-long, two-axle touring coach looks out at the world from bright, new LED headlights and shows off its new tail lights. The assistance systems are pioneering: In some characteristics they even exceed the future EU requirements of the General Safety Regulation (GSR). The new Active Brake Assist 6 emergency braking assistant is even more powerful than before. Sideguard Assist 2 therefore reacts and warns even more precisely in the event of a risk of collision with stationary or moving pedestrians and cyclists – now also on the driver's side. The completely new Frontguard Assist detects and warns of obstacles or people directly in front of the vehicle at low speeds.

Drivers benefit from the new MirrorCam instead of the conventional outside mirrors. The MirrorCam system further improves the already excellent aerodynamics, and thus additionally reduces fuel consumption – as does the now standard body lowering at motorway speeds feature. The 360° camera system provides a perfect all-round view when maneuvering.

Sophisticated passenger compartment with new infotainment

The showcased Tourismo welcomes passengers with a sophisticated vehicle interior design. The subtly elegant interior equipment in gray harmonizes perfectly with the anthracite metallic exterior paintwork. Floor coverings with cherry wood decor convey a cozy atmosphere, anthracite, quilted fabric covers for seat and backrest surfaces with gray side bolsters and head sections together with orange piping and curtains send a dynamic message.

Passengers also benefit from new entertainment electronics, the Coach Infotainment series infotainment system with 21.5 -inch screens and a brilliant image in full HD quality. Numerous USB ports supply power to the devices passengers bring with them.

Comfortable and gentle drive with automatic torque converter

Another special feature is the drive system of the Tourismo on display: It combines the powerful OM 470 in-line six-cylinder engine with a particularly comfortable automatic torque converter. This means, among other things, that the drive system is protected during city tours and feeder traffic as well as in the mountains.

This is all complemented by yellow curtains. That’s what you call stylish and appealing, warm and cozy.

In addition to the usual equipment features such as kitchenette and toilet, there is the new Coach Infotainment series multimedia system, large monitors in HD quality and power supply for end devices from both USB and 230 volt sockets. That's how you travel.

Drivers benefit from the new MirrorCam instead of the conventional outside mirrors. Paired with Predictive Powertrain Control, Active Drive Assist 2 opens up the fascinating world of automated driving. Traffic Sign Assist warns the driver when the speed limit is exceeded. The 360° camera system provides a perfect all-round view, while the surround lighting helps when reversing and maneuvering at night. The drive system is just as superior as the assistance and safety systems: It assures powerful response characteristics with an engine output of 315 kW (428 hp) paired with fully automated transmission.

Vehicle profiles for driving module 3 (MirrorCam)

Setra TopClass S 531 DT –
Travel giant in top form

  • Sophisticated equipment for short and long trips
  • Safer than ever with new assistance systems
  • Subtle and effectively upgraded look

It is the most versatile of travel giants: The Setra TopClass S 531 DT double-decker bus covers an enormous range from professional long-distance touring coach to individually designed bistro touring coach. At the Daimler Buses Driving Experience 2024, it will be driving with subtle equipment for classic touring, which will be complemented by pioneering new assistance and safety systems as well as a subtly refreshed look. This is defined, among other things, by the MirrorCam, which now replaces the integral mirrors once invented by Setra on request.

Sophisticated equipment for short and long trips

Dark-tinted windows and light-alloy wheels on the outside, a step behind the driver cockpit on the inside, a comprehensively equipped kitchenette and tastefully designed and comfortable seating – this Setra enjoys traveling. Wood look flooring, Setra Voyage Plus seats with Composition outer covers in iron gray, Evo gray light and head sections and curtains in orange, a panoramic roof above the upper deck – features to create a pleasant atmosphere.

Safer than ever with new assistance systems

Passengers also feel particularly safe on board the powerful touring coach. A wealth of new safety and assistance systems contribute to this: Active Brake Assist 6 emergency braking assistant, Frontguard Assist, Sideguard Assist 2 now acting on both sides, and other systems make traveling in the vehicle safer than ever before. At the same time, they support drivers in their responsibilities.

The driver also benefits from the new Traffic Sign Assist as well as from the 360° camera system and the new MirrorCam instead of conventional integral mirrors, especially in the double-decker bus with its impressive dimensions.

 Subtle and effectively upgraded look

Attentive observers notice the equally subtle and effective visual enhancement of the powerful Setra. For example, the new brand face with high-gloss black front mounting plate, framed in chrome bars with the three-dimensionally designed brand lettering, the round brand badge, new and even brighter LED headlamps as well as the full-LED element, which combines the turn signal lamps, daytime running lights and position lights like a “light bar” in a shiny brace. Added to this are the three-dimensional character element on the side along with new tail lights. Together with the equally warm and eye-catching paint finish in honey yellow metallic, this makes for an unmistakable appearance – not only thanks to the sheer size of the Setra.

Vehicle profiles for driving module 4 (electric and hybrid drive)

Setra MultiClass S 510 LE hybrid

  • Compact inter-city bus with high comfort
  • Elegant appearance, comfortable and suitable equipment
  • Cockpit Basic City: Touring coach level and spacious entrance

Short and sweet – the compact model Setra MultiClass S 510 LE continues the tradition of compact models from its predecessor series. At barely more than ten meters in length and with a very small turning radius, the short version of the new MultiClass LE is ideal for winding mountain passes, twisting routes in suburbs and old towns, as well as for off-peak times, weekend traffic, and routes with low passenger traffic. Despite its short length, the MultiClass S 510 LE is a fully-fledged bus with all the qualities of its larger siblings.

Elegant appearance, comfortable and suitable equipment

With its elegant integral mirrors, the compact bus maintains an elegant appearance. Passengers enter through a 900-millimeter wide door at the front and a 1150-millimeter wide door in the middle. They take their seats on the Setra Transit intercity seating. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a cheery black-orange fabric. As a result, the seating appears to almost hover above the subtly patterned floor of the "Uplandia" decor. All seats in the front section are located on platforms, and all passenger seats are equipped with two-point seat belts. A swiveling double seat in the entry area and two folding seats opposite, in the designated area for special use, ensure maximum seating capacity despite the minimal length.

Practical features include luggage racks in a grid design and storage compartments above the wheel arches in the front section. The side wall trim panels with needle felt in “Granite” decor and the fabric-covered backs of the passenger seats make for a cozy atmosphere. Thanks to Tempo 100 approval, the compact Setra can even handle excursions.

Passengers with reduced mobility have access to a manually operated folding ramp at the second entrance. Wheelchairs can be secured using retractors on the special-purpose area opposite. They are recessed into the platforms.

The extensive infotainment equipment includes a Coach MediaRouter for internet access and media streaming, illuminated USB double sockets per double seat in the side walls, and a 21.5-inch TFT screen.

The side windows of the intercity bus have double glazing. During the warm season, passengers keep cool heads thanks to the powerful roof-mounted air conditioning system, EvoCool Basic, with air ducts. Above the seats in the rear "loge" area, the Setra even has air vents. The driver’s workplace has separate air-conditioning.

Cockpit Basic City: Touring coach level and spacious entrance

Its seating is also high-quality. The rear panel of the cabin is transparent, and the driver's door creates a certain distance via a partition extending over half of the rear door width. The new Basic City cockpit is ideal for mixed use. It combines touring coach level for the driver with a spacious entrance at door number one. The combination of integral mirrors with an additional mirror for close-range driving, the 360° camera system and the surround lighting for reversing support operations on narrow and winding roads.

The drivetrain consists of the compact and low-emission inline six-cylinder engine OM 936 with a power output of 220 kW (299 hp), the torque converter automatic transmission ZF Ecolife 2 with gear selector 1-2-3-D-N-R, and the quiet and economically operating hypoid drive axle. The equipment with hybrid and recuperation module, as well as intelligent on-board energy management, further reduces fuel consumption and thus emissions. Vehicle profiles for driving module 4 (electric and hybrid drive)

Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC 3 batteries

  • Significant battery configuration for sufficient range
  • Unrivaled assistance and safety systems and 360° camera system
  • Attractively designed passenger compartment

Promise kept: Daimler Buses is enabling transport companies to participate in the rapid development of battery technology for all-electric city buses. The Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC 3 batteries is proof. With an energy capacity of nearly 500 kWh, it can replace conventionally powered city buses, making it highly appealing for fleets, drivers, and passengers alike.

Significant battery configuration for sufficient range

Five high-voltage battery packs with a combined energy capacity of 490 kWh distributed on the roof (three packs) and the rear (two packs) ensure the two-door solo bus has a sufficient range. It is designed for plug-in charging at the depot, and can flexibly move to different positions with charging sockets on both the left and right.

Unrivaled assistance and safety systems and 360° camera system

Safety is always a top priority in a Mercedes-Benz. Therefore, the premiere model is equipped with the new 360° camera system. It provides significant assistance to drivers in situations requiring precise maneuvering, whether in the depot or at tight spots along the route, such as congested bus lanes. Active Brake Assist Preventive Brake Assist, Sideguard Assist and the tire pressure monitoring system TPM are almost a matter of course. Safety and support for the driver also include the switchable speed limit of 33 km/h and the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System. A driver's cab door with a partition across the entire door width creates distance, while an active filter with antiviral function provides healthy air on board.

Attractively designed passenger compartment

Passengers take their seats on City Star Eco seating, manufactured in-house. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a cheery fabric. Red ceiling handrails, ambient lighting with continuous blue light strips above the aisle and windows, as well as a wood-decorated floor bring freshness and homeliness to this low-floor city bus. The special use area opposite entrance two provides space for a wheelchair or stroller, and the leaning surface facing away from the direction of travel has a folding seat. In the direction of travel there are two additional folding seats available as an alternative to the standing area. Passengers can charge their devices at 13 dual USB sockets.

All this is covered by an anthracite metallic paint finish, including the detachable parts. The result is the highly attractive overall appearance of the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC 3 batteries.

Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G fuel cell with fuel cell

  • Four battery packs, six hydrogen cylinders, two drive axles
  • Numerous assistance systems including 270° camera system
  • Generous and attractive passenger compartment

At first glance, it looks like the familiar fully-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G, but this is a very special model: the eCitaro fuel cell as a solo vehicle with a fuel cell as a range extender.

Four battery packs, six hydrogen cylinders, two drive axles

The test vehicle is equipped with four battery packs with a total capacity of 392 kWh, as well as six H2 bottles, each with a capacity of five kilograms, to supply the 60 kW fuel cell. The drive is provided by two low-floor portal axles with electric motors near the wheels, each with an output of 250 kW. This means that the eCitaro G fuel cell achieves a range of around 400 kilometers under average conditions.

Numerous assistance systems including 270° camera system

To support the driver and protect against accidents, the exhibition vehicle is equipped with numerous assistance systems. Outstanding features include the standard roll and pitch control, as well as the Sideguard Assist turning assistant and the active Preventive Brake Assist system, along with the 270-degree camera system. Furthermore, the exhibition bus is equipped with an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), which alerts pedestrians to the nearly silent operation of the eCitaro G fuel cell.

Generous and attractive passenger compartment

Three electrically operated inward-swinging doors lead into the passenger compartment. This is air-conditioned fully automaticallyby the highly efficient EvoThermatik hp basic system as standard. Passengers can sit on 47 seats of the City Star Eco seating produced in-house. Grab rails in Evo Steel, orange-colored ceiling handrails, and the designer interior ceiling with innovative lighting provide accents. Passengers receive information via two 29 inch TFT monitors. You can connect and operate end devices at a total of 15 dual USB sockets.

The driver benefits from a climate-controlled seat. The driver looks on to the familiar cockpit. Instead of the usual tachometer, a power meter in the instrument cluster shows the energy flow of the eCitaro G fuel cell, and another display shows the percentage fill level of the hydrogen tanks.
