Short and sweet – the compact model Setra MultiClass S 510 LE continues the tradition of compact models from previous series. With a length barely exceeding ten metres and a very small turning circle, the short version of the new MultiClass LE is perfect for navigating winding mountain passes, angled suburban routes and town centres. It is also a perfect fit for off-peak hours, weekend traffic and routes with low passenger volumes. Despite its compact size, the MultiClass S 510 LE is a fully-fledged public service bus with all the qualities of its larger siblings.
Elegant appearance, comfortable and suitable equipment
With sleek integral mirrors, the compact bus maintains an elegant appearance. Passengers board through a front door that is 900 millimetres wide and a central door 1,150 millimetres wide. They can find their preferred place amongst the Setra Transit interurban seats. The seat and backrest are covered in a bright black and orange fabric. The seating almost appears to float above the floor in the subtle Uplandia pattern. All seats in the front carriage are on platforms and all passenger seats are equipped with two-point safety belts. A swivelling double seat in the central entrance area and two folding seats located across the way in the special use area ensure maximum seating capacity despite minimised length.
The luggage racks in mesh design prove to be very practical. The side panelling covered with needle felt in a Granite pattern and the fabric-covered backs of the passenger seats provide a cosy ambience. The compact Setra is even suitable for excursions thanks to its 100 km/h speed approval.
A manually operated folding ramp is available at the central entrance for passengers with restricted mobility. In the special use area just opposite, wheelchairs can be secured using retractors. These are recessed in the platforms. Passengers can charge their mobile devices at the illuminated double USB sockets in the side wall at each double seat. Information can be displayed on the 21.5" TFT screen.
The side windows on the interurban bus are double glazed. During warmer seasons, passengers can keep a cool head thanks to the powerful EvoCool Basic rooftop air conditioner with air ducts. The driver’s workplace has separate air conditioning.
Basic City cockpit: Coach-standard fittings and spacious entrance
This workspace is also equipped to a high standard. The rear wall of the cab is transparent. The driver's door, with a partition over half the back door width, establishes a certain distance. The new Basic City cockpit is perfect for mixed use. It combines coach-standard fittings for the driver with a spacious entrance at the front door. Support for the driver when manoeuvring on narrow and winding roads is provided by a combination of integral mirrors with an additional mirror for close-range visibility, the 360° camera system and surround lighting for reversing.
The powertrain consists of a compact and low-emission OM 936 inline six-cylinder engine with a power output of 220 kW (299 hp), the ZF Ecolife 2 automatic transmission with a 6-speed transmission, and a quiet and efficient hypoid drive axle. Equipping the bus with a hybrid module, recuperation module, and intelligent on-board power management reduces fuel consumption and, consequently, emissions further still. The Driver Score driving style assistant provides additional support in improving efficiency.
