Setra MultiClass LE -Vehicle profile: Setra MultiClass S 518 LE – the new pinnacle on intercity routes

What an opportunity: at Busworld Europe 2023, Daimler Buses will be showcasing the Setra MultiClass S 518 LE, the largest version of the new model series, for the first time in the trade fair's outdoor area. The vehicle is also available for test drives. The three-axle vehicle is specifically designed for intercity transport with high passenger numbers, for school bus and works transport as well as for routes with longer stays on board.

Impressive format, impressive comfort

14.5 metres in length, three doors, a variety of seats and standing room – the flagship of the new Setra MultiClass is impressive. Electrically operated swivelling/sliding doors ensure rapid passenger flow rates at bus stops. For persons with restricted mobility, there is a manual folding ramp at door two and a special-purpose area immediately opposite.

Passengers take their seats on the Setra Route intercity seating. It has been arranged on platforms in the front section of the vehicle – this guarantees the best views through the double-glazed side windows. Seats and backrests are in a brown/multicolour pattern, head restraints in turquoise Composition, seat backrests and the side wall trim lined with needle felt. This creates an atmosphere that is rare and sophisticated for intercity buses.

Two-point seat belts for each seat, swivelling armrests, luggage nets on the backrests and luggage racks in the front section contribute to safety. A twin USB socket is available on the side wall for each twin seat. EvoCool Basic climate control includes air vents above each twin seat in the rear section.

Safety at the forefront: new assistance systems

Quintessential Setra: safety is also a top priority in regular-service operations. For this reason, the trade fair exhibition vehicle has been equipped with the Preventive Brake Assist 2 active braking assistance system, the new Frontguard Assist and the even more efficient Sideguard Assist 2. Together with the 360° camera system, this results in excellent all-round visibility – this is particularly important for a regular-service bus of this format. Added to this is the new Traffic Sign Assist assistance system.

Cockpit: on a par with touring coaches

The air-conditioned driver's workplace reaches touring coach level with the high-quality Basic City cockpit and elegant integral mirrors. The same applies to the powerful engine, which is linked with a comfortable automatic transmission with torque converter in this vehicle.
