A true all-rounder welcomes visitors at the entrance of Busworld Europe 2023 in Brussels: in the outdoor exhibition area, the Mercedes‑Benz Intouro hybrid demonstrates the outstanding performance of the versatile high-floor intercity bus. The exhibition vehicle masters operations from intercity regular-service applications to works traffic, excursions and short trips. A further special feature is the equipment with the latest assistance and safety systems.
New: Active Brake Assist 6, Frontguard Assist
Safety first – maximum safety standards are a top priority for Mercedes‑Benz. The Intouro on show is already equipped with numerous safety and assistance systems in accordance with the requirements of the forthcoming General Safety Regulation (GSR) within the EU and in other European countries. This includes, for example, the new Active Brake Assist 6 as well as the Traffic Sign Assist and the Frontguard Assist for detecting pedestrians and cyclists directly in front of the vehicle. These are supplemented by further developed systems such as Sideguard Assist 2, monitoring the left and right of the vehicle, Attention Assist (AtAs) or the 360° camera system for perfect all-round visibility. LED headlamps and LED rear lamps are also new features.
Sophisticated equipment – comfortable and functional
The remaining equipment of the Intouro hybrid combines comfort and functionality. A double‑width door two ensures a fast passenger flow while at the same time creating the space for a lift. Wheelchairs can rely on a dedicated space in the special-purpose area on the left in the direction of travel. Here, two folding seats facing in and against the direction of travel optimise the available space, as does a swivelling twin seat in the entrance area.
Floor mats in silver and side wall trim in needle felt with iron grey marl finish ensure a sophisticated atmosphere. The Inter Star Eco seating produced in-house with black and red seat covers, composition headrests in Amarena as well as grab bars in cobalt blue and curtains in ocean blue create a colourful emphasis. Luggage racks with an open floor, reading lamps and air vents above each twin seat offer travel comfort. The Exterior and Interior quality packages include integral mirrors and silver design elements, the Composition steering wheel and a trim chrome element in the cockpit.
Economical and comfortable drive
The Intouro's drive system combines the low-emission, economical Mercedes‑Benz OM 936 engine in the 260 kW (354 hp) output category with an automatic transmission featuring torque converter and a hypoid rear axle. A recuperation module and the hybrid system ensure maximum economy.
