- Remarkable battery configuration for appropriate range
- Comprehensive assistance and safety systems, 360° camera system
- Attractively designed passenger compartment
Daimler Buses is asking transport operators to participate in the rapid development of battery technology for all-electric city buses. The Mercedes‑Benz eCitaro with NMC3 batteries underlines this. With an energy capacity of just under 500 kWh, it can almost replace conventionally powered city buses – this makes the eCitaro comprehensively appealing for fleets, drivers and passengers.
Remarkable battery configuration for appropriate range
Five high-voltage battery packs with a total energy capacity of 490 kWh, spread across the roof (three packs) and the rear (two packs), ensure an appropriate range for the two-door solo bus. The vehicle has been designed for plug-in charging in the depot. With charging sockets configured both on the left and right side, it can flexibly move to different positions.
Comprehensive assistance and safety systems, 360° camera system
Safety is always a top priority for Mercedes‑Benz. This is why the exhibition model has been equipped with the 360° camera system. It supports the drivers in manoeuvring accurately. Preventive Brake Assist active braking assistance system, Sideguard Assist turning assistant and TPM Tyre Pressure Monitoring system are almost taken for granted. Safety is also promoted by the optionally engageable speed limit to 33 km/h and the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System. The driver's door with a partition across the entire width of the door creates distance to the passengers.
Attractively designed passenger compartment
Passengers take their seats on the City Star Eco seating which is manufactured in-house. Seats and backrests are lined with the lively and durable "Bebob colourful" fabric. Red ceiling handrails, ambient lighting with continuous blue light strips along the aisle and around the windows as well as wood-effect flooring create a fresh and homely feeling in the low-floor city bus. The special-purpose area opposite door two can be used in a variety of ways: there is sufficient space for a wheelchair or pram, and it provides a leaning surface facing against the direction of travel with a folding seat. As an alternative to the standing area, the vehicle can also be equipped with two further folding seats facing in the direction of travel. The Infotainment system includes a TFT monitor. 13 twin USB sockets supply the power for the passengers' mobile devices.
All these features are framed by anthracite metallic paintwork, including the add-on parts. The result is a striking Mercedes‑Benz eCitaro with NMC3 batteries.
