The Setra HD models of the ComfortClass have got it just right when discerning passengers embark on extended journeys with ample luggage. The range of the six types spans from the compact S 511 HD to classic formats, all the way up to the seating giant - the S 519 HD. In short: Thanks to its wide range of variants, the next generation of the ComfortClass 500 offers the right vehicle for every requirement.

The 10.5-metre-long ComfortClass S 511 HD is the compact coach with great performance. This remarkably agile club bus specialises in high-quality travel for small groups, also serving as an exclusively equipped VIP shuttle. The ComfortClass S 515 HD is the all-rounder in classic twelve-metre format. The°ultimate talent for any bus fleet, whether you need a long-distance coach, VIP coach, intercity or even regional bus. With two axles, it is highly economical and spacious with its approximately twelve metres in length. The ComfortClass S 516 HD/2 offers maximum efficiency with high passenger capacity. It is the most cost-effective coach among the 13-metre models, thanks to its two axles: Ample seating capacity and a generous luggage space, all on just two axles makes it ideal for high-frequency intercity buses or as a coach for larger parties.

With the around 13-metre-long ComfortClass S 516 HD, the introduction to the world of the three-axle coach begins. S 516 HD means more luxury, more payload, greater agility. The HD model boats a spacious passenger compartment and enormous payload capacity. Thanks to its actively steered trailing axle, it remains surprisingly agile. The ComfortClass S 517 HD is the spacious long-distance coach with a high payload capacity. It is sure to impress with its generous luggage space, high payload capacity, and ample room for passengers. The nearly 14-meter-long S 517 HD is ideal for long-distance journeys with long stays on-boards over long stretches. The ComfortClass S 519 HD is considered a specialist for long-distance routes. With its nearly 15 meters in length, it is the long-distance runner among the HD models and offers space for numerous passengers and plenty of luggage.

There is a new variant of the S 519 HD with a second door behind the rear axle instead of the usual entrance in the middle. This solution, already familiar from the two-axle models, leads to a new layout of the passenger compartment with evenly distributed seating rows on the left and right sides, as well as positioning of the bathroom and kitchen in the rear. At the same time, the luggage compartment between the axles has increased from 12.6 to 13.7 cubic metres. This corresponds to a volume of more than 200 litres per passenger, surpassing the volume of luxurious sedans by far.

The tried-and-tested powertrain remains unchanged. The Setra ComfortClass is based on the inline six-cylinder OM°470 engine with a displacement of 10.7 litres. Model-dependent, there are three power levels available: 290 kW (394 hp) – only the S 511 HD – to the 315 kW (428 hp) and 335 kW (456 hp). The three-axle models are also available with the larger inline six-cylinder OM 471 engine (12.8-litre displacement) at a power output of 350 kW (476 hp). When it comes to the compact engine, customers have the choice between a six-speed manual transmission (for two-axle models only) and the fully-automated GO 250‑8 PowerShift transmission. However, this unit is consistently paired with the larger engine.
