The cockpits of the Setra ComfortClass are highly sought-after workplaces for good reason. They are attractive thanks to their high-quality furnishings and comfortable thanks to their outstanding ergonomics. The intuitive control concept is precisely designed to meet the demands of everyday driving. With the new equipment features and assistance systems, utility and safety are further enhanced.

All aboard: with Keyless Start, the key remains in the pocket

By tapping a button on the vehicle key, the driver activates the central locking system. You can leave the ignition key in your pocket. After entering the coach, the vehicle will detect the presence of the key in the cockpit area. The driver can then unlock the ignition switch or start the engine with a button press. The engine starts with a short press on the start button while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal, or by holding the start button for more than five seconds. At the same time, Keyless Start enhances anti-theft security with the integrated immobiliser.

The new electronic parking brake: safe and practical

Located on the left side of the dashboard, the driver will find a new console with the controls for the standard electronic parking brake. It combines ease of handling and a high level of safety. The driver manually activates the parking brake by either pulling the lever or pressing the P button. The parking brake can be released either by pressing the accelerator pedal (standard in vehicles with PowerShift transmission) or by pressing the P button again. The integrated Hold function is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill by applying additional pressure to the brake pedal. The brake will only release when the driver presses the accelerator pedal again. The system also helps the driver during hill starts with the integrated hill start assist feature upon request. Finally, the parking brake is optionally activated automatically when the vehicle is stationary, the driver releases the seat belt and leaves his seat. This protects the bus against unintended rolling.

The new Highbeam Assist: maximum visibility enhances driver comfort and safety

Highbeam Assist automatically switches the main beams on or off depending on the traffic, ensuring optimal illumination of the road surface. It contributes to increased safety and enhances both driver comfort and safety by providing improved lighting conditions and optimised illumination. It is active at speeds above 35 km/h and automatically deactivates below 27 km/h. The function adapts to the illumination/brightness of the surroundings. Together with the new, even more powerful LED headlamps, the ComfortClass sets new standards for excellent visibility even under unfavourable conditions.

The new 360° camera system: everything at a glance

The 360° camera system offers perfect all-round visibility when manoeuvring and in tight spaces. This system allows the driver to detect pedestrians, cyclists and obstacles in areas that are otherwise difficult to see or obscured entirely. The immediate surroundings of the vehicle are captured by a total of four cameras located at the front, rear and above the side windows, creating an indirect 360° panoramic view. The corresponding image from a bird's-eye view is displayed on a 10-inch monitor located on the A-pillar. The screen is divided into two sections. This provides a total of five different viewing options: a full-screen, 360° bird's-eye view and the option to supplement it with images from individual cameras. The second image on the monitor varies according to the driving situation: For example, it will automatically switch to the corresponding side when the indicator is activated or when reverse gear is engaged.

The driver can also select the desired image from an on-screen menu. The views from the 360° cameras are available during forwards motion up to a speed of approximately 30 km/h and at all times when reversing. Driver orientation is facilitated by markings indicating the front and rear edges of the bus and a suggested driving corridor. The images provide a field of view of approximately five to six metres, ensuring that the adjacent lane is covered.

The new Coach Infotainment Series: great on-board entertainment

With so much support, onboard enjoyment should not be neglected: The new infotainment system called Coach Infotainment Series offers state-of-the-art media usage for professional use in coaches. It sets high standards in terms of operation and furnishings for entertainment electronics in coaches. It starts with high-quality digital radio reception (DAB+) and continues with Bluetooth audio streaming. Furthermore, an HDMI interface allows for the connection of a laptop, to display travel information during a study trip or seminar content, for example. The travel companion can also pair their smartphone with the Coach Infotainment series via Bosch mySpin. Two USB ports and an HDMI interface allow for the connection of external devices when needed.

The central interface of the new Coach Infotainment series is a seven-inch monitor located in the cockpit. Like on the predecessor model, it is positioned in the right control panel of the driver's workstation, making it easily accessible from the co-driver's seat as well. The operation can be done in various ways: through the touch-sensitive buttons on the touchscreen surface, via voice control, as well as through traditional buttons and rotary knobs. The driver can also control the volume and phone functions using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel. This reduces distractions while driving and enhances safety.

The contents of the Coach°Infotainment°series can be played through the monitors in the passenger area and the speakers. This includes media that is downloaded from the internet during the journey as well as media from a local onboard database, such as a USB stick. Another advantage from the passengers' perspective: Large monitors with a 21.5-inch (54.4 cm) screen diagonal for a brilliant Full°HD image. This applies to both built-in and foldable monitors.

Integrated into the Coach°Infotainment°series is a navigation system with a 3D map for the driver. The system receives online real-time traffic updates, allowing the driver to adjust their route accordingly or quickly inform passengers of any changes or delays.

The front axle is now even quieter and more comfortable, and there is a new trim strip for the ComfortClass

Attentive drivers will notice the next generation of the front axle in the HD models. The connection is stiffer, and the shock absorbers are newly arranged, both of which have a positive impact on acoustics and driving comfort.

Observant viewers will also discover the new brushed anthracite trim strips on the instrument panel in the ComfortClass.
