Leinfelden-Echterdingen / Mannheim – In a joint project, around 30 apprentices from the Daimler Truck location in Mannheim worked together with the well-known YouTubers "The Real Life Guys" to demonstrate their technical skills in a creative and unconventional way. Within just three weeks, they transformed an old truck tipper into a mobile XXL bathtub. The fully functional swimming pool holds around 22 cubic meters of water and can accommodate over 20 bathers at the same time. In addition to modern pool technology, a wood-burning stove with instantaneous water heater, comfortable seating and a gigantic shower head with a diameter of around one meter were installed. The bathtub can be coupled to a tractor unit and driven like a regular truck trailer.
The mobile bathtub was filled with water for the first time on Friday, August 26, 2024, by the Daimler Truck plant fire department at the Mannheim location and inaugurated in form of a pool party. Afterwards, the mobile bathtub made its way to Gräfenhainichen (near Leipzig, Germany), where it was available to visitors at the "MACHER Festival" from August 22 to 25, 2024.
"The Real Life Guys" documented the construction project on film and published it on their YouTube channel. After one week, the video already had over 1.6 million views.
Britta Beiling, Head of Vocational Training at the Daimler Truck location in Mannheim: "By converting an old dump truck into a mobile XXL bathtub, our apprentices not only impressively demonstrated their technical skills, but also highlighted the diversity and innovative strength of our vocational trainings at Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses in Mannheim. The creative collaboration with the influencers 'The Real Life Guys' enables us to target today's generation of applicants on Social Media. In a lively way, the project shows what is possible with a passion for technology and an innovative approach."
